On loan from Real Madrid to Tottenham Hotspurs, the Welsh footballer Gareth Bale indicated this Tuesday that he plans to conclude this season in the English entity and then return to the white club (Real Madrid), with which he has a contract until June 2022.
The 31-year-old Bale made the remarks during a press appearance for the Wales national team, gathering ahead of their 2022 World Cup qualifying game against Belgium on Wednesday.
The captain of Belgium recalled that "the main reason" why he returned to Spurs, from where he left for the Spanish capital in 2013, was because of his "desire, above all else, to play football"—hinting that he no longer had the confidence of the Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane.
"I wanted to be in shape for the European Championship (which takes place this summer). The original plan was to spend a season with the Spurs, and after the European Championship, I still have one year left with Real Madrid. I intend to return; I have not planned anything beyond, "Bale explained.
His current coach at Tottenham, the Portuguese José Mourinho, also stated a few weeks ago that the future of the "Cardiff express" in the London team depends on the intentions of Real Madrid.
Bale has not been playing in a fixture among his starters for the Portuguese coach either, after a start to the season marked by his physical problems, which he seems to have overcome.
"For a few years, maybe now is when I feel most fit. I am fresh and ready to play. I have always thought that when things are not going too well at the club level, it is good to get away, especially from a mental point of view, to get away from the club environment, "added Bale.
