Atalanta-Real Madrid

Atalanta will host Real Madrid at the Gewiss Stadium, Bergamo, Italy in the first leg of the Champions League last 16, on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, Atalanta brought a bad record ahead of the match against the Spanish giants. Atlanta has not been able to win at home during the Champions League this season.

Also, Atalanta's last three home matches in the Champions League this season, all of which were played in the Group D preliminary phase, ended with three wins two draws, and one loss. In fact, Atalanta only defeated Liverpool in the group stage of the champions league by a 5-0 scoreline.

Coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, does not deny his team appeared less solid at home throughout the Champions League title this season.

"Qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League this time, was achieved thanks to the performance of Atalanta players when they visited the opponent's headquarters," Gasperini said as quoted by the Italian Football.

"I want this team to have a chance when they come to Madrid, for that the players must first make a convincing impression on the field.

" This match will be the first meeting between the two teams in the history of a European club competition. I am lucky that Zidane does not play Atalanta itself has only registered their participation in the Champions League last season.

In their first appearance on the Champions League scene, Atalanta also met another Spanish representative, Valencia in the last 16 last seasons.

At that time, Atalanta managed to advance to the quarter-finals after winning 8-4 on aggregate.

Real Madrid has won their last four matches and also standing 2nd in the La Liga table behind Atletico Madrid with 52 Points.
